![]() Jarah Jane was born in the United States on August 31st 1972, in Fort Kent, Maine. In 1976, at the age of four, Jarah moves to Canada with her family. She lives in Ontario for three years before settling in Quebec. Throughout her teenage years, Jarah is attracted to music. She tries different instruments and discovers how she can express and communicate her feelings through music. In 1988, Jarah learns how to play the guitar. Because she can't afford to take any lessons, she sits in front of her T.V. set with her guitar in her hands, and tries to reproduce the chords she hears while watching "Musique Plus". With some time and practice, she masters the chords and eventually melodies start to take form. At the age of 17, Jarah starts to compose: she writes her first song. In 1991, Jarah joins the band "Amitis " as a back-vocalist. Some time later, the album intitled "Reeducation" is recorded. In 1993, Jarah fulfils one of her dreams: modelling. She does many fashion shows before realizing that this profession is not for her. On a more positive note, her modelling experience helps her overcome her shyness and feel more at ease on a stage. In 1995, still searching for the path she wants to follow, Jarah goes back to her pencil and guitar. At this point, she knows where she belongs. She works furiously at her writing and compositions. She records her songs in one of her friend's studios. At the beginning of 1996, there is only one thing slowing her career down : she needs someone she can trust to manage her. Luckily, one of her friends agrees to take on the task. Eight months later, the album intitled "Chocolate Milk", featuring six of her acoustic songs, is released. To her surprise, the three hundred copies of this limited edition are all sold in a few months! At the beginning of 1997, some musicians join her: Mike Carnevale on the drums; Mimmo Biello on bass and Marc Desbiens on the electric guitar. This association will end up giving her music an alternative-rock edge.
Most of her lyrics are inspired by real-life experiences and it is with great talent that she bares her soul.
