Artist Bio

“A piano-playing siren making a mark with her fiery, passionate performances,” Julia Othmer rocks and radiates. Adding overtones of rock and jazz to a delicious base of soulful pop, her intimate, yet universally appealing, tunes engage audiences with their raw and earthy magnetism.

Julia recorded her first songs in San Francisco with Myron Dove (previously of Santana). The first of these tunes, "Mission Control," was selected to be the theme song for the new Vision Video game, SpaceStation:SIM. "Mission Control" also won "Best Rock Song" in a Philadelphia-based demo review hosted by NARAS and “Honorable Mention” in the Billboard World Song Contest.

From her “homebases” in Philadelphia, Kansas City, and most recently, West Hollywood, Julia has garnered a fast-growing fan base through regional touring at such venues as Los Angeles' Ford Amphitheatre, Hotel Cafe, and the Baked Potato; Philadelphia's World Cafe Live, the TLA, and the Tin Angel; New York City's Knitting Factory, the Cutting Room, and the Bitter End.

Julia was named "Artist of the Week" on HitQuarters.com and nominated at the Philly Music Awards for "Best Female Entertainer," "Best Female Vocalist," and "Best Keyboardist." She has shared the stage with John Waite, Amos Lee and Regina Spektor; was the National Winner of the AIDSROCKOHIO Emerging Singer-Songwriter Contest; and was Runner-Up in the “Best Pop Song” category at the 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards.

Julia recently completed her debut album, “oasis motel,” in Los Angeles with producer Michael Blum (Madonna, Roger Daltrey, Suicidal Tendencies). An amazing array of musicians joined her including Johnny Griparic (Carole King), Herman Jackson (Stevie Wonder, Outkast), Matt Laug (Alanis Morissette, Slash’s Snakepit), and Dean Pleasants (Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves). It was independently released in February 2006. Tracks from "oasis motel" have already been licensed for use on TV shows “Degrassi: Next Generation" and ABC's "Army Wives" and "Big Shots" and in martin+osa stores nationwide.
