An exceptional artist, Kari has developed a compelling, fiercely individual style. Writing and performing since the age of 5, Newhouse also produces all of her own music.

Kari 's debut CD, Playing Juliet was recorded and co-produced by Al Sutton (Kid Rock, Robert Bradley Black Water Surprise, Big Chief). Since then, the two have worked on three other sessions, including tracks for a new single and a new full length album.

Hailing from Detroit the Kari Band has been getting serious attention with every gig they play. In just two years Kari and the band have blown away crowds and critics alike with passionate, intense live performances filled with Newhouse's brilliant songs. The band has developed a loyal following, sold thousands of CD's and plays extensive national dates.

Kari has a smooth, powerful voice which defies comparison. She is a strong artist with the accolades to prove it. The band has played with some of today's most prominent acts (Fuel, The Push Stars', Buffalo Tom, Beth Orton etc...), was a finalist in the 1998 H.O.R.D.E. Band to Band Combat, Lilith Fair Talent Search and is a 1999 Lilith Fair performer. With their dynamic performances, it's no wonder the band is getting such attention.
