Keren DeBerg

Whatever it is, singer-songwriter Keren DeBerg is fortunate to have it working in her favor. One of earliest acts of fate occurred at age 13 when an A&R rep from New York stumbled upon an impromptu performance. Her voice was attraction enough to capture his attention. A relationship developed and he later influenced her decision not to sign a record deal offered to her at age 15. Instead she finished school, and the day after her high school graduation, left her native Miami and ventured to New York City for college and a chance to be in the center of the music scene.

New York proved to be the place where fate would resume its course. DeBerg started playing the downtown music scene where she has built a strong & steady following. In recent times, she's shared the bill with such acts as Lori Carson, Everything & The Eels among others. Besides playing in the Big Apple, Keren has broadened her fan base by playing throughout the East Coast with stops in Boston, DC, and Miami. As well as playing live, Keren has been focusing on her songwriting and recording with her co-writer/producer. A new recording will be completed by summer's end. Her past recordings featured Patti Smith's band as well as yielded her airplay in both her hometown, Miami and New York. She also lent her voice to sing backgrounds on the latest Jonathan Richman album, the Ric Ocasek produced project from the punk legend who was featured in summer hit "There's Something about Mary".

It is no accident that this raven-haired songstress with a fresh take on pop is proving her talents on stage and at the writers desk. With many performances behind her, DeBerg has grown up with her music. She's developed a sound that frames her voice with strong ballads and rock tunes delivered with pure powered pop. Whether it's rocking out with a full band or strumming her blond wood acoustic, Keren seems quite comfortable singing impassioned lyrics like "I expect you to excite me. I demand you to inspire me. I'll allow you to explore me. You will love me, you'll abhor me." Her unique sound and passionate deliverance of her music is what makes her pop music's next major voice.
