OUR MISSION:
At Alternatives to Family Violence, we believe that education, empowerment
and support are key to breaking the cycle of violence that now affects one
in every four American families. This not-for-profit organization works to
eliminate domestic violence by providing safety and empowerment to those
affected, while promoting non-violence as a social value.
Serving women, children and men from throughout the Denver metropolitan
area, the 21 -year-old organization has helped thousands of people in their
choice to live without violence.
Our programs include: a residential shelter which provides a safe,
transitional home for women and children who are victims of domestic
violence; and a community outreach team that can bring our educational
programs to your school, organization or work place.
SHELTER:
-Safe confidential, A.D.A.-compliant shelter for battered women and their
children
-24-hour Crisis Line including TDD for hearing impaired clients
-Advocacy and referrals to housing, employment and other community resource
providers
-Individual and group counseling for resident women and childrens
-Bilingual assistance

-Group and individual counseling for children and adolescents up to age 18

-24-hour on-call counseling for abusive men seeking help
-Court-ordered men's treatment groups
-Victim advocacy
