Mission Statement:
Renewal House is a residential community for mothers and children affected by
addiction. Renewal House seeks to preserve families by:
-Helping mothers live sober, self-sufficient lives;
-Ensuring children a healthy start through early intervention, and
-Providing education and prevention leadership to create a more drug-free
society
The vision of Renewal House is mothers and children growing individually and
together.
Program Phases:
Orientation
Renewal House is not a detoxification facility. Residents must
have a clean drug screen at the time of admission. The orientation phase
gives a
mother the opportunity to adjust to Renewal House while completing necessary
tasks (for example physicals, locating child care, school enrollment for child,
meeting with DHS Case Manager....)
New Beginnings
During New Beginnings, residents attend Intensive Outpatient
Treatment at area programs licensed for this type of care
Renewal Phase
During the Renewal Phase residents focus on education with
classes taking place at Renewal House. In class 8 hours a day, residents learn
about survival skills for women, job readiness and parenting.
Transition Phase
Focuses on vocational training, and employment. The goal is
to help each mother find meaningful employment. The goal is to help each
mother
find meaningful employment that will allow her to be self supporting.
Aftercare Phase
Aftercare occurs once a woman completes all treatment phases
and is living independently away from Renewal House. Meetings with and
aftercare
case worker will occur for up to six (6) months.
Children's Program:
Renewal House recognizes that addiction is a family disease that effects
even the
youngest family members. Renewal House provides children with a safe, stable,
drug-free environment where they can heal, grow and be a family. The
Children's
Program seeks to ensure that children receive healthy starts through early
intervention.
Each child at Renewal House receives a comprehensive screening. At the end of
the screening an Individual Program Plan is written for each Renewal House
child.
Children whose Individual Program Plans indicate a need for further
intervention
receive augmented case management services.
-Medical intervention as defined by physician
-Psychological Evaluation via the appropriate BHO or a Clinical Interview to
further identify needs.
-Advocacy through Metro Davidson County Board of Education for services
available
for special education students.
-Counseling at area mental health centers or through school based counseling.
-Enrollment in childhood behavior programs.
Prior to a child's departure from Renewal House the assessment tools used
in the
evaluation phase are administered. A discharge plan is written for each
child.
A copy of the plan is given to the proper monitoring agencies and any social
service/school representative designated by the mother as part of the child's
aftercare plan.
