Tour Outreach is an HIV/AIDS awareness and education program. At concert venues nationwide, LIFEbeat volunteers staff tables filled with HIV/AIDS literature, condoms and hotline cards which they distribute to concertgoers. In addition, Tour Outreach tables are set up daily in New York and Los Angeles, as show schedules permit. The tables are vital sources of information about HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention and program services. Tour Outreach began in 1992, with Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde's suggestion of distributing condoms on her tour. Since then, LIFEbeat has supplied thousands of concertgoers at hundreds of venues with lifesaving HIV/AIDS information. Tour Outreach has become an invaluable vehicle for promoting awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and visibility for LIFEbeat's efforts. LIFEbeat also joins with artists and music festivals on tour nationwide. We utilize the help of volunteers and other AIDS organizations to staff these tables. |
