Mission Statement

The Julian Center is a unique, nonprofit agency that provides:

-counseling, safe shelter and education for women who are survivors of abuse and assualt

-education and consultation service for the community

All programs and services are designed to contribute significantly to a reducation in the incidence of violence against women, to provide survivors with the opportunities for healing and to help break the intergenerational cycle of abuse.

The Julian Center provides 24 hour emergency shelter to battered women and their children. In 1996 The Julian Center served 541 women and children. Our facility is the only secure shelter in Indianapolis with the location kept strictly confidential. The Julian Center recently added both individual and group therapy for the women and children in residence at the Shelter with the opportunity to continue counseling beyond their stay at our facility. In addition, The Julian Centeroperates an off-site school, staffed by a licensed teacher to continue the education of our youngest residents.

The Julian Center operates a Counseling Center for women in crisis. Fees are based on a sliding scale. Our therapists specialize in treating women who are survivors of child molestation, rape and domestic violence.
