Lisa Christensen from Houston Area Women's Centre accepted the $12,000 donation from ticket sales for today's show. She thanked Sarah on behalf of all the women and children who are survivors of domestic violence.
The media asked newcomer Katell Keineg if she had any expectations of Lilith Fair. Katell responded that she hoped "to have a good time and to play well."
Kelly Willis was asked about her reaction to Lilith thus far. She said "I don't usually get to play for this audience, its more of a pop audience." When Kelly was asked whether she thought playing at Lilith would get her a much deserved record deal she said her plans were to record at the end of the month and that "whatever it takes, that would be nice."
Alana Davis who is on her second day at Lilith said she wishes she could have more dates with Lilith. "I can't imagine a better audience. Everybody listens to the words and cares what you're thinking.It seems like they are open to communication instead of a little gyration."
Joan Osborne remarked that since she has been off the road for about a year being on Lilith has allowed her to test out the new songs she has written. "To be able to play in front of these kind of very receptive crowds, very respectful crowds that are listening intently to the words has been a really great experience."
Emmylou Harris remarked that playing to the large audiences at Lilith has been "overwhelming and humbling." A unique experience about Lilith has been "the camaraderie, being able to see these women you're fans of perform." Emmylou mentioned that the experience of hanging out backstage was satisfying at Lilith "because most of the time you're on the road you are cut off from that kind of female companionship. It's nice to see what everybody is doing onstage but also getting to know a little bit about their lives. You have to have long distance friendships in this industry." When asked if she felt like dispensing advice to the other artists Emmylou said "I'm going to hold a little seminar or do a little column."
Sarah in response to Emmylou's statement said "it's a very strange journey we have chosen."
