Attending this afternoon's press conference were Dar Williams, Mary Jane Lamond, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers (The Indigo Girls), Sarah McLachlan, Meredith Brooks, Roberta Harrison (The Wild Strawberries) and Pat Benatar.
Meredith Brooks who is leaving Lilith Fair after 5 shows summed up the feelings of many Lilith performers when she said "I'm leaving today and it's very hard. I don't want to leave, I'd stay in a heartbeat. I feel very
connected to everybody here - the advice we give each other and the strength, experience and help have been a really wonderful experience.
Diana Harvey of Planned Parenthood presented Sarah with a handmade poster thanking Lilith Fair for taking a stand to reverse the ban of Planned Parenthood from the Houston show. Deb Wilkins-Costello, Executive Director of Chrysalis: A Centre For Women, gasped when she heard that she was being presented with a cheque for $25,000. Deb said her organization serves over 22,000 women a year.
