SHOW ME THE LILITH FAIR

Paula just got off the stage to a standing ovation. Yay Paula! Well sure miss her when she leaves. But that's not for quite awhile, so we don't even have to think about that.

Tracy Bonham again kicked off the main stage with a roar. You know that saying, "I am woman, hear me roar"? They were talking about Tracy.

The Second stage and Borders stage artists continue to win people over everyday. Tara MacLean had quite the lineup when she went to the Borders store for a signing. September 67 get better every time we see them. Shannon and Kristin are not only great musicians, but they are also the funniest people on stage. And the Wild Colonials had enough energy to power a small city for a week. Over on the Borders stage Garrison Starr and Kim Fox may not be as well know as the acts, but they are showing through their performances each day that they soon will be singers that we'll be phoning our local radio station to play.

The artists are all a pleasure to work with. All the hard work that everyone is putting into the tour is worth it when you see what happens on the stage (and off it) each night.

Special surprise is coming up soon...we caught Mary Chapin's and Paula's band rehearsing some material together in one of the dressing rooms today. Could it be...We'll find out at about 9:30.

The press conference just wrapped up. It was a good one today. Mary Chapin, Sarah, Tracy Bonham, Shannon and Kristin from September 67, Tara, Garrison, and Kim were all there. For the third day in a row Shannon was a muckracker. But in a good, fun way. That Shannon, she's nothing but trouble.

Some of the discussion surrounded Time's description of Jewel's music as "wispy blonde." This greatly confused Mary Chapin and she wondered if her sound was "short" or if she would sound different if she highlighted her hair.

Word has it that there is a force from MTV here today. Something like 25 of them are around covering the event. Haven't seen any yet, but if we see Kurt Loder or any other MTV celebrities (like that guy from Singled Out) we'll let you know.

It may sound glamourous being on tour, seeing all these great cities, and hanging with all the artists, but the reality is that we rarely see the cities. Venues the size of the Riverport Amphitheatre are usually way outside the city and we are there all day. All i know is that there is a big stage behind our bus with lots of seats in front of the stage and a parking lot with a chain link fence and what looks like a highway on the other side.

But we do get to hang with the artists all day.

Another hot sunny day. I don't want to make it sound like we are complaining about the weather. It has been near ideal, if just a tad hot, for all the shows so far. We have been very lucky. Now i'm going to go get some wood to knock on.

The bstage has kind of a funky setup today. The crew has been tryng to move it around to get a place where the most number of people possible can enjoy the artists that play there. And since the bstage hosts some pretty amazing artists who i bet one day will be on the lilith main stage, it's good that mroe people get to see them now. Today the stage is being built in the reserved seats. They have repossessed about ten rows of one of the sections and are setting it up there. Fortunately Dan and Paul (tour manager and production manager) had the foresight to plan for almost every eventuality with the bstage. It should be good today.
