HELLO CLEVELAND posted Thursday, July 17, 1997 Cuyahoga Falls, OH 11:25PM EDTWe have a new tour highlight, well for us anyway. Mary Chapin just came on our bus and visited the web site and oogled over our computers and just plain injected a feeling of warmth in our little world that exceeded the already high levels of warmth that Lilith has in general. We will try not to sound like fans here, but she is so cool. She looked at a bunch of photos, especially the ones of Cal and Reilly and Rex, checked out many of the video clips, read Camille's tour diaries, and looked at some of the charities that Lilith is working with. Mary Chapin is genuinely sad to be leaving Lilith. She said on her second day that she was already having seperation anxiety. We are having that same anxiety about her leaving. Her crew and band are all wonderful people. It's meeting people like them that make everything worthwhile. Good luck to Mary Chapin, J.T., John and Jonathon, and everyone else in their group. And especially Cal and Reilly, Rex will miss both of you. Us two legged creatures will miss all of you. 9:15PM EDTWe hate days when artists leave the tour. It makes all of us sad. Today was September 67's last day, and as you probably have read, we became very fond of them. We even tried to bribe tour officials to keep them around. But with this being Lilith and all, no one would take our cash. That and we only had Canadian money to offer. We were laughed at. Good bye September 67! Good bye Shannon! Good bye Kristin! You'll be missed. Fiona had fun with her set today. She got into a mock yelling match with someone in the crowd. They said something to her, she didn't quite hear it, but heard enough to know she wanted to hear it again and tried to get them to repeat it. With the tables turned and the spotlight on the audience member, they wouldn't ante up. Fiona had a little fun with it, we all had a good laugh and maybe someone will think twice before they shout something stupid again. You never know when you'll get called on it. We're all about to head out to see the end of Mary Chapin's set. It's also her last day. She has a special place in our hearts, too. Most everyone performing has been a fan of hers for many years and they are all honoured to be sharing the same bill with her. Well tonight many of them may be sharing the same stage. We know Paula and Sarah are joining Mary Chapin on stage and there may be more. We'll have video rolling. 5:00PM EDTA very special treat today. Mary Chapin Carpenter played to about 300 people on the Borders stage today at 3:30. It was an incredible set. She was up there with three of her bandmates and they completely transfixed the crowd for twenty five minutes. We were all very luck to have been there. One of the highlights was when one of her dogs, Reilly, jumped up on stage in the middle of a song and nuzzled up to Mary Chapin. You could see it coming, too. As soon as Reilly heard Mary Chapin playing, he started looking for stage access immediately. Cal, Mary Chapin's other dog, was beside the stage shaking like a leaf. I was ready to go scream for help when someone informed me that he always does that when Mary Chapin is on stage. He doesn't like her having that many people around the stage and Cal is also jealous of the Mary Chapin's guitar. there's something you won't be reading in Time magazine. 12:00noon EDTIt just finished raining. It was our first real rain of the tour. We hope for maybe a little more, as long as it stops by about 2:00pm. The way the venue is covered today it almost feels like an indoor performance - at least for those who are on the stage and have seats in the reserved section. |
