SARAH McLACHLAN CREATES LILITH FAIR FOR 1997 posted Wednesday, February 12, 1997 New York, NY Next summer, most likely July of 1997, a new concept tour will begin created by Sarah McLachlan and her management. A mere concept only months ago, it is now a full-fledged reality. In the last three months, this first of its kind, all woman fair stopped in four market places - Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver for a combined audience of over 40,000. Entitled Lilith Fair, it featured performers such as Patti Smith, EmmyLou Harris, Lisa Loeb, Paula Cole, Aimee Mann, Suzanne Vega, Michelle McAdorey, and Sarah McLachlan. Due to the success of these shows, Lilith Fair will begin an eight week tour in July of 1997 visiting between 30 to 35 market places in North America. The fair will be lifestyle in its concept and will feature women performers only. Confirmed to date are: Neneh Cherry, Lisa Loeb, Paula Cole, and Aimee Mann with more to follow. Sarah McLachlan will be performing on all dates set for Lilith Fair 1997. Each stop will combine a main stage with 4-5 performers and a "coffee house" side stage with an additional 4-5 performers, all located within the venue space. McLachlan is currently in the studio in Montreal recording a new album, set for June release. Her last album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, went platinum. |
