![]() Monday, July 27, 1998 Orlando, Florida Eight of my relatives (they all live in Florida) came to this show. I hadn't seen most of them in a very long time and it was nice to get to know them again. They all gathered at my booth. It's been very hot, to say the least. I'd been carting this gerber daisy around since the first NJ date so that I could have an authentic plant at my booth. But it really wasn't doing so well. It wasn't thriving at all going from A/C to heat each day. I began talking incessantly about this plant -- I felt like we started the tour together and I was concerned about its welfare. I'm sure with the amount of time I spent talking about this plant, people became concerned about mine! My cousin Cam's 9 year old daughter Galinia has a green thumb and they offered to care for it. So it went to the right place for it. So now I travel sans plant. I have an empty white ceramic watering can on my table at the booth. Go figure. I was interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel and three girls, when they heard I had created B-girl they wanted pictures with me. People are so surprised when they find out that I, as the one who created it, am on the road. The one girl, who was about 12, was very excited and said "I'm going to create something some day!" I didn't realize but it's true how often do you meet the person whose business it is -- people are so supportive when they find out. These become little bright spots in the day. We then travelled about 10 hours to Biloxi, Mississippi where we had day rooms. For more information about B-girl, visit their website at http://www.bgirl.com |
