Denver, Colorado

I've been coming and going all summer, but now I'm staying on Lilith Fair until the end (which is only about 10 more days). I flew into Denver, CO on Saturday and had an interesting cab experience getting to the hotel. My driver didn't really seem to know how to get into the city from the airport and at one point had to go the wrong way down part of a highway. But I made it ok.

The venue today was really nice, and in general I had a really good day. Lisa from Cybergrrl is back and we worked together most of the day doing interviews. We spoke to Village Stage artist Nina Storey, a bunch of fans, and Natalie Merchant's band. Speaking with Natalie's band was particularly interesting. I was just planning on having each member introduce themselves on camera, say what they play, and give a little on their background. But particularly near the end, we got some great additional stuff from them. And Natalie herself even made it on camera.

It was Natalie's last day, and some very interesting stuff went on. First of all, all her crew members were dressed up in costumes (including a gorilla and clown.) Then for the last song, a group of circus-style performers came out; more clowns, a belly dance, a man walking on stilts to simulate very long legs. There were balloons everywhere. Word has it these two events were unrelated, planned by different people as a surprise for Natalie. It went over so well!

For Sarah's finale ("What's Going On") a cake was brought out for Natalie. We'll miss having her on the tour!
