![]() Wednesday, August 26, 1998 Boise, Idaho In my tour diary from the 25th, I wrote that it rained a bit during the day but got nice later on. However, I wrote that before the show ended. During Sarah's set, a huge storm hit. There was rain, thunder and lightening, and very strong winds. The backdrop behind the stage fell. The sound cut out briefly. Sarah and her band members looked like they were going to be blown away. Several artists have told me that playing in the rain sometimes makes them feel closer to the audience, and I did get sense of this tonight. However, there was a down side. By the end of the set, the weather was so bad that it was impossible to do the finale. This morning, the bus had to go in for repairs. It seems that the driver woke up everyone at 8am telling them to get off, but I was asleep and didn't hear this. No one noticed that I didn't get off, so I woke to an empty bus being driven down the highway. I think I kind of freaked out the driver when I suddenly appeared and said "Where is everyone?" So I was stuck with the bus as the generator was being repaired. Luckily, it didn't take long and I made it back to the venue by 11am. We're in Nampa, Idaho today in a venue much smaller than we're used to. Jennifer Schossow, who used to work at the Starbucks booth, got to start things off on the Village Stage. She had started out performing at the Tower booth while working at Starbucks, so it was good to see her move up to performing on one of the stages. Jennifer seemed to go over very well with the crowd, and many people were asking for her autograph when she did a signing later in the day. Lisa and I did a few interviews today; I thought the one with Lucy Gamelon was particularly fun. It turns out that vocalist/bassist Blair has a background in acting; she was a regular on "V" and appeared in an episode of "Get A Life." We were trying to get an interview with Paula Cole but so far that hasn't happened. Her road manager says that it should be no problem doing it at some point, so maybe at the next show we'll be able to. The tour is rapidly winding down. 3 shows left! Tomorrow is a travel day, and then we go up to Canada for the final dates. I'm very excited to go back to Vancouver! |
