Camden, New Jersey

Welcome to Camden, New Jersey, suburb of the City of Brotherly Love. And though it may be a short distance to it's bigger brother, this East coast city retains it's Brotherly flavor with the Jersey rendition of the Philly cheesesteaks--even at the Sony Music Entertainment Center in Camden. Among the sausages, hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, hamburgers, fries, pizza and funnel cakes, over 23,000 concert goers spent a rain-soaked and sauna-like Friday listening, eating, drinking and buying all that Lilith had to offer.

11:00am
Saw Sarah walking around the Village this morning. She looks like a proud parent as she surveyed the vendor's set up. She should be pleased, she has a lot to be proud of.

2:45pm
The press conference lasted a long time. Folks were full of questions for Sarah--everything from, "What do you want in 50 years?" (Sarah's answer: "Equality." to "How long will Lilith be running?" (Scheduled for three years and then they're taking a break--This was asked *at least* twice.) And even, "Do you get to see your dog much?" (Sarah's answer: "More than my husband.") It's funny what people will say.

4:30pm
I've been watching some of the Village Stage performances--Emm Gryner, Nancy Falkow, the local talent. They're all usually nervous, but even with the rain, they're all excited to be here.

6:30pm
Saw Morcheeba's totally awesome performance on the B Stage. The six member English group makes some of the most incredible music together. It's so cool to turn around and see the masses mouthing the words to each song. Skye Edwards voice during "The Sea"--my personal favorite song-- punctured the overcast sky, and I swear I am not making this up, let the sun show it's face, finally. Well, it couldn't have picked a better time.

7:00pm
Interview with Jenn Womack, dimmer technician. Talk about perpetual motion, her day starts at 7:30am and ends at 1:30am. Between setting up, working the lights during the shows and tearing down, she gets about four hours of sleep a night--at best. She is among the 40 percent of women crew members, and according to Jenn, most of the tours she's on the ratio is about 10 to 1, but on this tour she likes that "there's a real balance of men and women."

10:45pm
With my pass, I can go all over the place and tonight during Sarah's performance I was so close to the stage I touched it. Ooooooh, I know that sounds ridiculous, but I did it because I could. It's so weird to hear the audience sing every verse to "Building a Mystery"--I mean have you ever heard 23,000 people sing in unison? It's awesome.

Midnight
I'm exhausted. It's been hot and humid and I'm fearing another sleepless night rolling around on the bus. Maybe a beer or two will help cradle this little Lilith chick to sleep.
