 Tuesday, June 23, 1998 San Francisco, California The San Francisco crowd seems very colorful and energetic. I got a chance to check out K's Choice and Lhasa for the first time. Both drew big crowds and stirred up a lot of energy with their power sets. WHile I was shooting Billie Myers I suddenly became aware of the fact that she had jumped over my head! She's one of the most interactive performers I've seen. She climbs the constructs of the stage, jumps off, gets right in the crowd's face, and they love it. Another great performer was Beth Lisick of Beth Lisick Ordeal. She was refreshing in that she was unlike any of the other performers from this year or last. Her "songs" consisted of vignettes told in a story-telling way as opposed to singing. This, set to the back-drop of jazzy, beat music was very intriguing. I was partially wishing I were watching her in some dark, plush, velvety bar instead of a lawn with a bright, cheery day full of sunshine. |
