 Sunday, June 28, 1998 Phoenix, Arizona Today was a really great press conference day. Angelique Kidjo talked and talked about how great Lilith Fair was and compared our cultures (she's from Africa). It was also really neat to see Liz Phair adamantly defending the Lilith Fair concept. She's a personal favorite of mine, so I was eager to see what her perceptions were. The general media conception is that she's very shy and almost aloof. That definitely was not my impression. She spoke up quite a bit and made interesting points on the importance of being a good role model for young girls and women. Another highlight was meeting and talking with Ana Gasteyer from Saturday Night Live. I met her at catering (having introduced myself) and we ended up talking for quite awhile. She's very engaging smart woman. I arranged to talk to her, and her alter ego, Cinder Calhoun tomorrow for an official interview. Her set is just hilarious and really draws quite a huge crowd of people (especially young girls). |
