![]() Tuesday, July 28, 1998 Biloxi, Mississippi Even though this wasn't an official day off it has been the best day off yet, by far. I've never been to Mississippi and unfortunately I still can't say much about it. The beginning of the day was your typical day off stuff. The buses rolled into the hotel around 9:30am. We all shuffled sleep-eyed and bed-headed to our rooms, unloaded our stuff then went down to the restaurant for breakfast. As usual we all decided to go to the nearest mall. Of course we all got separated eventually--I hate waiting for people to try things on. After a long while by myself and unable to find my companions I realized I had left the hotel without knowing what hotel it was, or possessing the number for the shuttle which brought us! You get used to living in a situation where you wake up, get off the bus and you're where you will be for the next fifteen hours. You don't really need to know where you are, just how to get back on your bus by the alotted time of departure. I finally did hook back up with one other person who luckily knew the bus shuttle number. The pool party that happened when we got back was totally unplanned and unexpected, but it was just what everyone seemed to need. It started with a few people splashing around and a couple of cold beers taken discreetly from our coolers on the buses. After a bit there were about 20 or so more people frolicking around. Blenders, fruit, juice and tequila were brought out, serving up yummy frozen drinks. A couple of turn tables and sound systems were installed making it a full-on party. It seemed to go on for hours with more people joining and some leaving. Even Sarah's dog Rex got in and joined the fun, having a couple of doritos which she isn't usually allowed to have. By the time I got out of the pool I felt completely waterlogged and my toes and fingers were all puckered and white and looking a size smaller. I don't know how much longer it went on but I knew I was there for at least 5 hours. I think it was good because we all were together, opposed to the usual situation of being divided into 2 separate groups at different hotels. This seemed a sort of unifying event for "team" Lilith Fair. |
