 Wednesday, July 29, 1998 Houston, Texas Today was Meredith Brook's last day so I scheduled an interview for this afternoon after the press conference. Nina had the idea to do a dual sort of interview with Bonnie Raitt, where Meredith interviewed Bonnie since she has stated that Bonnie Raitt was a big influence on her. Meredith's publicist was all for the idea, but Bonnie was rehearsing a song for Holly Cole, to be performed that evening. We had to go ahead and just do the Meredith interview as scheduled because that was really the only good time for everyone. So Nina and I go to Meredith Brook's dressing room and get all settled into our interview and it's going along. After about 10 minutes it seems like a good time to wrap it up, but just as I'm about to say something Bonnie Raitt walks in! She sits right down next to Meredith and apologized for interrupting! We, of course are like, "No problem at all." Well, Nina poses one question which was enough to get the thing going like wild fire. Bonnie Raitt started talking and telling stories and we were all mesmerized for pretty much the next hour. Bonnie told her story with Meredith commenting or asking questions here and there. Nina and I just had to sit there and soak it all in. It was really amazing. At one point I remember just thinking to myself, "Wow,I can't believe I'm sitting here, 2 feet away from Meredith Brooks and Bonnie Raitt having this excellent discussion about music and the industry." It was one of the neatest experiences so far. |
