Virginia Beach, Virginia

I flew into Norfolk, Virginia on Monday--a day off for the tour. I was greeted with a note from Gina--she works with us in the NYC office, but is out on the road working at the Lilith Center-- saying that Starbucks was hosting a beach party that night and everyone was invited. I was pooped from traveling but was glad we went to the party. Gina introduced me to everyone and although I don't think I retained any first names that night, it made the next working day on the tour much easier as there were many familiar faces both from the party and from last year.

I've spent the last month at the office going through all the footage that's shot daily and editing it for the Lilith site, so I had a good idea of what I could expect from the artists' sets. The footage from the Indigo Girls and of the nightly "What's Going On" finale are favorites to watch--I always get goosebumps whenever I see "The Water is Wide" collaboration with the Indigo Girls, Sarah, and whoever else gets the chance to sing with them, and everyone looks like they're having blast during the "Closer to Fine" jam. The "What's Going On" finale is the most fun to watch to see who will sing each verse, and some nights it looks like there are up to 25 artists on stage, including all the various back-up band members. It must've been a challenge for Sarah to pick a song that everyone could sing, and one that could work out as well as last year's "Big Yellow Taxi," but "What's Going On" is perfect!
