My Sister's Place is a grassroots community organization which has been committed to eradicating domestic
violence since 1979. Located in the District of Columbia, we operate a 24-hour crisis hotline and provide
safe, confidential shelter for up to 24 women and children at a given time. Battered women and their
children can find education, support and advocacy through My Sister's Place. Transitional housing is
provided for women who no longer need the security of a confidential shelter, but are not ready to live on
their own. We also offer two weekly community support groups for women and provide training and
presentations for various organizations in the greater Washington area through our Speaker's Bureau. My
Sister's Place relies on a large corps of volunteers to staff the hotline, work with the children's program,
assist with fundraising and special events and participate in our Speaker's Bureau.
