Founded in 1969, the Center for Community Solutions is a nonprofit, independent service provider. Our stated mission is twofold: to create communities free from violence by building bridges between people; and to foster a safe and healthy environment for women, men and children through education, therapeutic services, advocacy and cultural and community services. For nearly 30 years, we have helped individuals and families rebuild their lives by assisting them to find viable solutions for healthy living through a variety of intervention and prevention programs.

Our programs are managed by trained professionals and counselors sensitive to the specific needs individuals and families affected by violence. They focus on four important areas - education, wellness, advocacy and culture and community. Today these programs encompass five main components: Training & Development, Clinical Services, Project Safehouse, The Rape Crisis Center and a Legal Clinic. We rely on community support and individual involvement to make our programs accessible. All funds raised are used locally. Together we can work towards ending violence and creating vibrant, healthy and peaceful communities for all residents of San Diego County.

The vision of the Center for Community Solutions Is for all people to live full, free, expressive and empowered lives In a safe, vibrant, healthy and peaceful community.

Programs and Services
At the Center for Community Solutions, we believe that everyone has the right to live life with respect and dignity. For nearly 30 years, the Center for Community Solutions has helped individuals and families overcome the devastation of violence. We help people find solutions that work best for them and help them to rebuild their lives. We provide resources for individuals, couples and families to become productive members of society - in some cases, for the first time in their lives.

The Center for Community Solutions recognizes that we are all affected by violence - directly or indirectly. From its early beginnings in 1969 and throughout its history. CCS has continually addressed the often hidden problems that have great public consequences. In response to the needs of the community, CCS has developed five components: Training & Development, Clinical Services, Project Safehouse, the Rape Crisis Center and the Legal Clinic.

Training & Development:
Violence is a learned behavior and, as such, it can be prevented. The goal of the Training and Development Department at the Center for Community Solutions is to use education as a tool to improve the quality pfjour lives. Each year more than 4,OO0 people participate in our educational seminars, workshops and training programs. These include corporate based prevention training, professional in-service seminars, school-based prevention programs, child and adolescent programs, and adolescent education and outreach.

Clinical Services:
CCS offers individual and group counseling for couples and families and children. We strive to provide our clients with help that's easily accessible and affordable. Our professional counselors have been trained in a variety of disciplines and are experienced in helping others to address the behaviors and causes of relationship violence.

Project Safehouse:
Project Safehouse provides an emergency refuge for women and their children who require immediate relocation to a safe and protected environment due to family violence. Clients residing at Project Safehouse receive a number of services including individual and group counseling, case management and parenting classes.

Rape Crisis Center:
Established in 1980, San Diego's only Rape Crisis Center helps victims of sexual assault. Our 24-hour HelpLine assists victims of sexual crimes and currently responds to more than 3,500 calls annually. Trained CCS counselors accompany sexual assault victims both to hospitals for evidentiary exams and to the courtroom for appearances. The Rape Crisis Center also offers a certified training course on sexual assault and domestic violence intervention for volunteers throughout San Diego County.

Legal Clinic:
The Legal Clinic provides assistance in obtaining a temporary restraining order to limit or prohibit access to men, women and children. We assist individuals to navigate the maze of the legal system. In addition, the Legal Clinic offers divorce workshops and court accompaniment is available when requested.
