HMV CANADA DESIGNATED LILITH FAIR'S OFFICIAL MUSIC RETAIL SPONSOR

TORONTO, ONTARIO - Lilith Fair, the annual celebration of women in music as envisioned by Sarah McLachlan, has welcomed HMV Canada as the Official Music Retail sponsor of its Canadian Tour.

"Lilith Fair is thrilled to have HMV on board in Canada once again as the national music retail sponsor. As a retail leader in Canada, HMV will be a great partner in providing national exposure for the festival and its artists," said Donna Westmoreland, Director, Marketing & Business Development, Lilith Fair.

Lilith Fair tour markets in Canada include Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto. Throughout the festival period, HMV will provide national support of Lilith Fair and its artists through in-store racking, advertising and consumer promotion. HMV will also be on-site with a retail store in the Vendor Village in each tour city and will be donating a percentage of proceeds to selected women's charities. "HMV Canada is delighted to support Lilith Fair again in 1999. It represents a significant event in music that we are proud to be a part of," said Mike Arseneault, Director of Marketing, HMV Canada. "It gives HMV the opportunity to further connect with Canada's live music fans across the country. It also provides on-going support for Lilith artists and allows us to assist worthwhile charities which is in keeping with the spirit of the festival itself."

HMV Canada has been named MUSIC RETAILER OF THE YEAR by the Canadian Music Industry for the past 11 consecutive years and has 96 locations in Canada and 14 locations in the United States. HMV CANADA will also be launching an e-commerce retail web site in June 1999.
