XOOM.com will digitize these songs and place them in its Media Sharehouse, a new XOOM.com site that allows its more than 7.3 million members to store, share and showcase multimedia files. Once files are in the Media Sharehouse, visitors can download songs and vote on their favorites. On August 1, the ten songs with the most votes will be put before a panel of judges. The winner will be announced on August 10.
The XOOM.com/Lilith Fair Acoustic Talent Search, on the other hand, will be a 17-city real-world tour, beginning on April 29 in Toronto and ending on May 23 in San Francisco. Other stops include New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington, D.C and Austin. Each winner of the Acoustic Talent Search will open for the Lilith Fair 1999 concert stop within their respective city.
XOOM.com will work with The Breast Cancer Fund to raise awareness of the disease by sponsoring a raffle at each Lilith Fair venue. Concert attendees can enter to win an Apple iMAC in each city. Following the 1999 tour, XOOM.com will also make a charitable contribution to The Breast cancer Fund.
