XOOM.com/Lilith Fair Acoustic Talent Search Rules

Eligibility

1. Only bands with female frontpersons are eligible.
2. There can be no more than three people performing.
3. Artists who won any Lilith Fair talent search in 1998 are not eligible. (1998 Finalists who did not win may compete again)

Artists are free to enter the Talent Search in as many cities as they like. They will, however, only be eligible to perform in first final for which they are selected.

1. Artists must submit two songs on audiocassette or CD ("demo") to the
2. Address posted on the Lilith Fair web site, www.lilithfair.com, by the date posted for each market.
3. Demos will not be returned.
4. Demo submissions do not have to reflect a three piece performance (but actual performance must include no more than three performers).
5. Demos will be judged on originality, musical ability and instrumentation, and vocal performance

1. No amplifiers may be used.
2. Electric instruments may be used, but they must only be amplified by Direct Input.
3. No full drum kits will be allowed - snares, congas, other single drums and hand-held percussion are acceptable.
4. Line-level pre-amplification with 1/4 inch guitar jacks are acceptable.
5. Effects pedals are acceptable.
6. Stage Manager has ultimate discretion with regards to instrumentation.

1. Panel of judges will be selected by the local promoter and Lilith Fair
2. Performances will be judged on originality, musical ability and instrumentation, and vocal performance.
3. This is not a songwriting competition.

1. The grand prize includes the opening performance at the local presentation of Lilith Fair. If there is more than one Lilith Fair performance scheduled in a particular city, two grand prizes may be awarded. The schedule is as follows:
   • Toronto - 2 winners

   • Philadelphia - 1 winner
   • Washington, DC - 1 winner
   • New York - 2 winners (1 Jones Beach show, 1 PNC Bank Arts Center show)
   • Charlotte - 1 winner
   • Atlanta - 2 winners
   • Nashville - 1 winner
   • Detroit - 2 winners
   • Minneapolis - 1 winner
   • Denver - 2 winners
   • Austin - 1 winner
   • Seattle - 2 winners
   • Portland - 1 winner
   • Dallas - 1 winner
   • Los Angeles - 1 winner
   • San Francisco - 2 winners
2. Other Grand Prize rewards:
   • A web site for the band, hosted by XOOM.com
   • A Digital Camera
   • "Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music," vols 2 & 3
3. There will be one runner-up in each city, who will win two tickets to Lilith Fair and the Lilith Fair CDs.
4. These prizes will be awarded in a timely fashion, but may not necessarily be awarded the night of the Talent Search.
