July 08 - Vancouver We're so lucky to have a day of sunshine today...it's been miserable and rainy for almost two weeks straight in vancouver, and could very well have been for the first lilith date. but instead the weather is absolutely perfect -- warm, sunny and blue skies. everyone seems to be in high spirits today - the lilith crew is notorious for being a very laid-back, down-to-earth, nice bunch of people and even here on the first day of the tour - typically a very stressful day to get through - everyone is smiling and seem be motoring along like they've been doing this forever ; i supposed some of the crew have been, and are hardly fazed by the first day of a tour. Time seems to be flying by today. After loading all our gear and luggage on to the bus, I head out with a digital camera to take shots of the empty venue and the crew setting up. I also get a few shots of Luscious Jackson's sound check -- i'm really excited about seeing them play, since i'm a fan but have yet to seem them live. I think of them as a very new york band, and it's strange to see them here in vancouver on this huge stage at UBC, under the blazing sun. after shooting the Luscious Jackson performance, my friends Paul and Kyle find me as I exit the pit (area where we shoot footage and photos from in front of the stage). I take their pictures for the web site, and Paul gives me a very thoughtful gift of vegan cookies. A wonderful start to the tour...too bad he didn't give me a 2 month supply! as the day draws to an end, I say goodbye to my old friends and co-workers from the Vancouver Nettwerk office who've been fortunate to witness the first Lilith date of the last Lilith tour. Tonight, we leave for Washington and beyond. I'm sure the next 2 months will fly by and I'm in for a great time. The tour is off to a nice, easy start. |
