Jennifer's Diary

July 20 - Austin

Another pass through the Austin area without seeing Austin the city. It's just too bad to be so close and not get to check out a legendary city. I've heard so many great things about it as a music scene from friends who have lived there, or travelled through on a trip.

Today was our first day of rainy weather on the tour. No worries though, it didn't rain hard or long. No damage to us or any of our equipment thankfully. Plus, we got a very nice rainbow in the late afternoon which was nice and hopefully there will be some pictures up on the site.

A pretty uneventful day really, I'm not sure why. I was feeling uninspired early in the morning but my mood picked up later around lunch. We had a lot of new artists join us today including a Talent Search winner, "Kitty Gordon" whom I did an interview with. It's hard to part with some of the artists once you get used to having them around. I think everyone was sad to see Cibo Matto and Beth Orton leave. Though comletely different in musical styles they were both such impactful artists to have on the tour. There will be new faves though, there are always are.

Apparently Sandra Bullock was around watching the show but I never saw her as I was working so hard! (I'm being precocious now) But Vanessa caught a glimpse and took a picture so everyone can see. The majority of the guys on the crew could talk about nothing else for the rest of night so I guess she made a good impression and is even prettier up close and personal than on the silver screen.

Later on the bus it felt as though we were "receiving" guests, several people stopped to hang out. Members of Sarah's band stopped by, Vince came by with Bob, had a seat for awhile and chatted with us. Sean Ashby literally ran onto our bus and into the back without so much as a "hi". It turns out that he had pissed off a local crew guy and was escaping his wrath. We're not sure what he had done. Hmmm... Brian and his girlfriend Jen(who works in the Lilth Center) were there breifly. Jaime the chef popped on to look at some pictures Al Robb had taken of his food that day. We said goodbye to Lynn, Dean, and Bob of the documentary crew for about ten days. They're heading back to Vancouver to go over some of the footage and reassess their goals and needs for the film, take care of some business, etc. We'll miss them on the bus as we were just getting used to them being around and started getting to know them a little bit. Well, we'll have the whole month of August for that.
