Shaye's Diary

July 21 - Dallas

I suppose you're all getting a little restless and impatient, wondering when I'd write again, what happened next....

Did my tent blow away in a storm? DId I get caught in the middle of a drunken Texas brawl? Did I buy acid wash jeans and spiked leather boots?

Well you can all rest easy now because none of the above occurred. It was basically an average Lilith Fair day.

Except of course for the fact that it was my bus driver's birthday, J.D., my bus driver deserves honorable mention here. He's a cat. We're talking deep Texas, long hair, muscle shirt, cowboy boots and the ALWAYS ESSENTIAL skin tight Wrangler jeans. Like I said, he's a cat.

I think I may get on his nerves from time to time because he always tells me to stop talking. Still, I love him. All the bus driver's are great actually. Especially the cute young one on bus 10...but I'll save those thoughts for my other journal.

So let's talk music...

I took a break and watched Dido yesterday. I quite enjoyed their music but thought it would probably sound better mixed properly on a CD with neat vocal effects. She did have an interesting personality, and unique melodies. I like it when they're not predictable.

Shawn Colvin came on yesterday...just her and her guitar. I thought she was great. She's quite witty that one. At one point someone from the audience shouted out a request and she said "Hold On. Let me see if the band knows that one." Then she turned around and did this funny little mimic routine to the empty stage. I was impressed.

OH! I have to tell you about the bathroom stalls. Now I don't know if they were thinking that only short Texans attend concerts or if they just don't know how to measure properly but if you wanted to sit on the toilet AND close the stall door...you had to pull your knees up to your bloody ears. I reckon those construction workers had been dippin' into their vats of moonshine because it was just ridiculous.

I think I'll close on that note...give you something to ponder next time you find yourself in your roomy shining washroom.

Thanks for tuning in to my sporadically intriguing thoughts.

Joi sans Ein!
