July 24 Diary
That night a whole bunch of us from the tour went to see Fat Boy Slim at the Tabernacle in downtown Atlanta . It was a much needed dance-athon, and probably the best, most fun way to relieve stress (which I think we all needed to do). It was neat too because our laminates got us in for free! Just one of the great things about being on the tour. The Indigo Girls were there for the two dates which was great! They're gone now but will be back soon, and for the rest of the tour. Not only are they one of my favorite bands but I've gotten to know them and their crew the best out of all the bands on the past tours. So it's nice to see all the familiar faces. They've got some new music from an album they just finished working on and it was rockin' the house. On the second day it thunderstormed so hard that a mudslide was created on the lawn. Everyone was lined up, taking turns sliding down the hill. The village was full of mud-clad people all smiling and seeming to love the messiness of it all. If I hadn't been working maybe... Later that night around midnight a small group of people started gathering to celebrate Al, Barb, and David's birthdays. We had a cake waiting in the back lounge for the perfect moment. Jocelyn started radioing everyone on the various channels to let them know a party was taking place. Before we knew what hit us there were tons of people crammed onto our bus. Literally crammed like Sardines dancing, singing, etc.. Cake ended up on a few people's faces, Sarah's for one! It ended all too abrubtly as we had to get a move on to Nashville, TN where we were setting up shop the next day. |
