July 30 Diary
"My fifteen minutes of fame day"
It was an interesting day in Camden, NJ. The venue sits right on the
water, overlooking the Philly skyline. There was an ever-present breeze
which provided welcome relief from the sweltering heat.
I was recognized by a person in the audience while I was shooting
"She-Haw". As I was getting my camera set up I heard a shout from the
crowd-"nice haircut Jennifer". I looked towards the person yelling and
said thanks but had no idea who they were. I asked him how he knew my name
and discovered that he goes to the website everyday and reads my tour
diary. A very surreal moment for me. So I decided that he would be a good
candidate for "fan of the day". He agreed and I had him fill out our
questionnaire, then of course I took his picture. He then had his friends
take a picture of him with me! Ronnie (the fan of the day) had travelled
from Toronto to see the show and visit friends. The two women he was with
(Dana and Susan) were also big Lilith fans. They planned on attending the
Hershey show plus both Toronto dates and had had their pictures taken last
year. So I took their pictures and suggested they find me at another venue
to be fans of the day for a future date. Maybe we should make them "fans
of the entire tour" or "ultimate Lilith fans". I think they deserve some
kind of recognition for being so devoted. Which brings to mind the people
who showed up in Nashville whom I never could find. Apparently two women
drove from Florida to the Nashville show and carried a big banner
displaying the Sarah McLachlan fan club name, "Murmurs" and yelling their
devotion all through the village. We really wanted to find those girls and
talk to them but we never did. Well, that's probably as close to famous as
I'll ever get. There goes my fifteen minutes.
