August 7-8 Diary
"A Couple of Farewells"
The two days spent in New Jersey were pretty nice. The venue lies in a
lush, green setting and the temperature was very comfortable. We had a
night in a hotel and didn't have to be back at the venue until later the
next morning which is a nice deviation from the norm. A daiquiri party in
someone's hotel room got busted before it even started. The hotel said no
alcohol was allowed to be brought on the premises but none of us believed
them. I think they were expecting us all to utilize their bar facility and
when they found out they weren't going to get the extra cash they decided
to nix our plans. I can't say for sure but that's just what seemed to be
going on.
It was Me'Shell Ndegeocello's last day and I'm sorry to see her go. I
really get into listening to her funky soul music in the late afternoon,
when in need of some serious downtime. It was also our last couple of days
with B girl Aromotherapy/Catherine Swan. She was on our bus last year for
a good portion of the summer and I didn't get enough of a chance to visit
with her this time around. I did, however find time to buy four of her
essential oils, two for me and two as gifts for Vanessa and Jocelyn. It
was also Mya's last day with us, no more tap dancing or crazy dance moves
by her and her troup-we don't get a lot of that around here.
We're heading into the midwest where I'm from. It's nice to feel
familiarity from the surroundings, and I get to see friends and family
soon when we do the Indianapolis show.
It's hard to believe it's already two thirds into the tour! This summer is
flying by faster than normal. It's a good one though, I think this is
going to be a good ending Lilith Tour. No bang or fizzle, just a nice
peacful time with some good mellow people to enjoy the ride with and some
really great music. Speaking of which, the Pretenders are leaving in a few
days. That is most definately going to be sad for us all. It should also
bring a crazy farewell. We'll see...
