"Dinner with Sarah McLachlan" or "corn in yer teeth"

A whole new slew of artists joined us in Columbus. The Indigo Girls for two dates only but then rejoin us later, and for the rest of the tour. I always say it but I'm just really glad to see them around and I love watching their set. I had heard lots of good things about Patty Griffin, who I didn't really remember from the last years, and realized she was quite good.

Apparently McDonalds has a lot of money invested in the Polaris Amphitheatre as their little insignia is everywhere, not to mention they sell their food at this venue as well. I remember being perplexed and disappointed about this in past Lilith years. It just seems wrong somehow to have a nice thing like Lilith Fair happen where PETA booths, NOW, and other great non-profits are represented and to be bombarded by a huge corporate anti-nutritional establishment that will now be associated with Lilith to the concert-goers who attended this show. Ah, the insanity of it all.

Strange too, this is the place where Sarah got food poisoning last year. As far as I know nothing bad like that happended this year. I was sitting outside dining with Jocelyn and Sarah when this incident was remembered and we all had a laugh about it, though at the time it was very serious. Sarah's set had to be cancelled because, which was the first time she had ever had to do that! So we're sitting there laughing and talking about eating and getting work-outs in to our schedules. None of us have been getting the workouts in this year as compared to last and both Jocelyn and Sarah feel that they've put on some extra pounds. Jocelyn and I both agree that Sarah looks great anyway. Just about then she smiles at us with a huge mouth of corn stuck in her teeth ! At this point we were all afflicted with the same problem (corn on the cob for dinner). It's pretty funny to be sitting at dinner with Sarah McLachlan in the first place, but then to have her acting silly with her food is a somewhat surreal experience for me. Even though I've seen her everyday this summer, and on past summers she is never anything but pleasant and smiling. I guess it's just a rarity for me. But it's cool to see artists just as people acting the way you would act with your friends.
