Toronto Day 1
"Oh Canada"
Most of the crew is Canadian and everyone is absolutely thrilled to be
back in Canada. I can't blame them, Canada is a great place. Besides that
it was an absolutely beautiful day. Not too hot, not too cold and a nice
breeze with partly cloudy skies. Am I sounding too much like a weather
forcaster? Well, it's my perfect day. Everyone is excited to have two
nights in a hotel as well and then a day off on Monday in Milwaukee. A
nice couple of mellow days. However it's probably not too mellow for most
people since there are lots of family and friends of the crew here.
Our day off was on Friday and we got in around noon. Rooms weren't going
to be ready for awhile so we walked around Yonge street for awhile.
Jocelyn was looking for a very particular type of shoe. We headed west on
Queen street to find a funky little place to eat lunch when the downpour
started. We ducked into Eaton Center instead and ate at "Mr. Green Jeans".
At about 2:30pm we headed back to the hotel thinking surely our rooms would
be ready. They weren't. We decided to start up a card game with Jess that
I had never played before called "Oh Hell". It was a lot of fun and before
we knew it, it was after 4:00pm! Our game finished and right then we got
our room keys! Perfect timing.
After showering and completely wrecking my room from throwing all of my
clothes all over the place (it's sort of a day off ritual of mine to take
everything out of my suitcase, look at it and rearrange it. you'd be
surprised how much stuff you forget that you brought) Jocelyn and I went to
dinner at the "Queen Mother" which was great Thai fusion food. Afterwords
bowling with the Indigo Girls, their band, Sully the guitar tech., John the
drummer's son Jake (who is also Sinead O'Connor's son), and Lisa the
publicist at Bowlerama, way the hell out somewhere, I have no idea where.
It was a lot of fun, especially when they turned it into "cosmic bowling"
which meant all lights off except for a mirror ball effect lighting like
when I used to go roller skating in middle school and they would play "King
Tut". But then I got really tired and wanted to go back to the hotel, plus
I was sucking at the game.
