Lilith Fair: Behind The Scenes

Talent Search Stories - Boston
by Carolyn Snell

I liked the vibe of the Boston venue, the Karma Club, because it was set up in a pseudo coffee house atmosphere -- with couches on the stage and low red lights in the entrance to the club.

One of the last contestants to compete was Lori McKenna. She almost didn't make it to the show on time, but fate was on her side (and some real talent!) and she was named the grand prize winner and will play on Aug. 3. The runner up for the evening was Deb Pasternak.

The show's four judges included:

  • Jodi Goodman, VP Booking/Artist Development, Don Law Company/SFX Entertainment
  • Ralph Jacodine, Manager of the Push Stars and Ellis Paul, President of Black Wolf Records
  • Jerry Mason, Music Director of WXRV
  • Sarah Rodman, writer, Boston Herald

Note: Carolyn is travelling across North America representing Lilith Fair at the Talent Searches and sending back daily reports.
