Lilith Fair: Behind The Scenes

Talent Search Stories - Los Angeles
by Claudette Silver

The Troubadour, Saturday Night: A crowd had already gathered by the time I arrived at 5:00 to set up. Guitars, strumming fans... a buzz was most definitely in the air. When the show started promptly at 8:00, my suspicions were confirmed. LA rocks with talent. Can I do more of these Talent Searches?

The winners are, drum roll please: (Not a drum roll from FULL drum kit, mind you, as this is an acoustic Talent Search, remember?)
Winner: Noella Hutton
Runner Up: Dee Dee O'Malley

The night was emceed by Bryan Douglas, weekend DJ from Star 98.7 who did a brilliant job keeping the crowd entertained during the quick set changes. Thanks to him and to Star 98.7.

And no contest would be complete without awesome judges! They were:
  • Tommy Ginoza, Marketing Coordinator, Universal Concerts
  • Michael Pontecourvo, Artist Development, Maverick Records
  • Libby Molyneaux, Assistant Music Editor, LA Weekly
  • Greg Simms, Weekend Disc Jockey, STAR 98.7

A special thanks to Melissa, Eric, Ingrid, Derek, and Michelle from Universal Concerts, and to Paul, Mike, Mark, Warren, and John from the Troubadour. Things ran so smoothly I got to kick back and enjoy the performances. See you at the Rosebowl on July 17th!

Note: Standing in for Carolyn at the LA Talent Search was Claudette Silver, Lilith Fair's Nonprofit Coordinator.
