Talent Search Stories - Seattle by Carolyn Snell By day, The Crocodile Cafe is a small New York-style diner. By night, with a few walls taken down, it turns into a Hawaiian-motif club. The Crocodile was packed full of eager talent search-goers who kept the cheering and heat to the highest degree. The night began with The Shed, led by a 17 year old with a voice of steel. It continued with an all-instrumental performance by Schaad/MacVittie and an intriguing Carrie Clark's smooth jazz song, "The River." The audience celebrated finalist Yonchae's birthday with their own rendition of "Happy Birthday," but the night belonged to Grand Prize Winner Nikol Kollars who blew the crowd (and judges) away with her mesmerizing stage performance and soulful "Who You Are." The other Grand Prize Winner, Loni Rose, not only has the pleasure of performing at Lilith Fair this summer, but will also be opening up for Jewel at a local music festival. The runner up went to jr. MCs for the night were Dean Carlson from The Mountain and Corey Dillon from KISS 106.1. The judges were:
